A garden sprayer is an important tool that helps eradicate pests and keep weeds to a minimum. Sprayers are an ideal means of dispensing liquid pesticides, but there are a few safety concerns to keep in mind whenever you use a garden sprayer.
  • Protective Clothing

Protective eyewear and gloves should be worn at all times when using a garden sprayer. Long-sleeve shirts and pants also ensure that your skin is protected from wayward spray.

  • Wind

Do not spray your garden on windy days. If there is a gentle breeze, work with caution and make sure the wind is behind you when spraying.
  • Pesticides

Pesticides are highly poisonous, so read the manufacturer's directions before spraying. The instructions will give you tips on the best ways to dispense pesticides.
  • Storage

When you are finished spraying, empty the remaining contents of the garden sprayer back into the original pesticide container. Store all pesticides in their original bottles and refill your sprayer as needed.
  • Washing

After spraying, wash the garden sprayer thoroughly, including the nozzle. You will then need to meticulously wash your hands with soap and water to get rid of any pesticide residue.
