What Are Slipcovers?
Furniture slipcovers are large pieces of fabric designed to cover couches or chairs that are worn. Slipcovers can also be used to give furniture a fresh seasonal look. For example, some people cover their furniture with floral slipcovers during warm weather months and darker, solid tones during cooler months.

Types of Slip Covers
There are two main types of slipcovers. The most common are the types sewn to be the general shape of the furniture, but are much larger. To get the perfect shape, the owner must tuck the excess fabric around cushions.
For people that like a more tailored look, they can buy slipcovers that are made for specific types of couches or chairs; these simply slip over the furniture and need little adjusting.

Considerations When Buying
It is best to measure the width and length of the furniture before shopping for a slipcover. Also take note of what types of arms the piece has; this will help in getting the best fit. For example, some slipcovers are designed specifically for couches with overstuffed arms, so the cover must match that type of arm or it may be too small.
