Hollywood has created some of the most memorable monsters in pop culture. So it only makes sense that Los Angeles would be home to some spectacular Halloween festivities. The fun ranges from movie studio lot Halloween takeovers to tours of the most notorious of Hollywood murders.

Halloween Horror Nights - Universal Studios Hollywood
Every year, Universal Studios Hollywood hosts one of the biggest Halloween events in the United States. Halloween Horror Nights turns Universal Studios into a maze of scare zones, Halloween themed shows and mayhem. Designed for guests over the age of 13, the event takes place every weekend night during October. Though guests are prohibited from wearing costumes into the studio, scare actors fill the void by taking on the role of the various characters who patrol the macabre streets.
A different theme is presented each year by the studio and the entire event reflects that theme. Past themes have included famous film slashers and urban legends. Halloween Horror Nights are popular, so advanced ticketing is recommended. Universal Studios is located at 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, California.

Haunted Hollywood Tour - Grauman's Chinese Theatre
This popular tour of some of Hollywood's most famous haunts begins at Grauman's Chinese Theatre and winds its way through haunted Hollywood. Taking its cue from the infamous ghost tours of New Orleans, the Haunted Hollywood Tour showcases a number of infamous locations including the location of the Tate murder, the O.J. crime scene and Marilyn Monroe's haunted mirror. Tacky? Yes, but for those who enjoy their hauntings straight from the pages of the National Enquirer, this may be just what you're looking for.

Mickey's Trick or Treat Party - Disney's California Adventure
The Disneyland Resort offers an event for those who don't enjoy constant scares and gore: California Adventure's Mickey's Trick or Treat Party. Guests are encouraged to dress up and enjoy trick-or-treating within Disneyland's sister park. Unlike most neighborhoods, there's not an age cutoff for this trick-or-treat fest.
The event takes place on select nights during October. Advance tickets can be purchased online or at the gate after Aug. 1. Tickets for the Halloween night event sell out quickly.

Queen Mary Shipwreck Halloween Terror Fest
The Queen Mary is the site of numerous hauntings. If the first-hand reports are to be believed, ghostly footprints appear beside the pool and apparitions appear to be sitting and frolicking poolside.
This real-life haunt becomes the Queen Mary Shipwreck in time for Halloween. Featuring haunted mazes, live entertainment and dance parties, the famous haunt becomes a hotbed of Halloween entertainment. Taking place on Friday and Saturday nights in October, as well as Halloween night, tickets can be purchased from designated vendors. Hotel packages on the ship are also available. Guests are asked not to come in costume.

Knott's Berry Farm Halloween Haunt
On select nights in October and late September, Knott's Berry Farm transforms itself into a walking nightmare. With 13 dedicated scare mazes and scare actors roaming the park, this Halloween haunt has become a Los Angeles institution.
Tickets can be purchased online, by phone, from Ticketmaster or at the gate. Knott's Berry Farm suggests that only guests over the age of 13 attend as some of the scares can be intense. Knott's Berry Farm is located at 8039 Beach Blvd., Buena Park, California.
