Overview
Cholesterol is found in many different foods, including meat and cheese. Eating foods with too much cholesterol can put you at risk for several health problems. Choosing foods that are low in cholesterol can help bring a high cholesterol level back under control. Cholesterol aids the body in growing cells, hormones and other healthy body functions. About 75 percent of cholesterol in the body is naturally produced, while 25 percent is consumed in the foods we eat.
