How Do I Fit an LCD TV to a Wall?

by Will Guzzardi
  • Overview

An LCD television can be the centerpiece of a living room, and mounting it to the wall can significantly enhance its affect. While it can be an intimidating and daunting task, with the right tools, care and patience, you can accomplish this by yourself.

  • Step 1

Check the TV manual to find the mounting holes, and remove the small screws from the them.
  • Step 2

Take those same small screws and compare them to the screws that came with your mount. Find the ones that match in size.
  • Step 3

Use the those screws to attach the mounting bolt to the TV.
  • Step 4

Using your stud-finder, locate the studs in the wall where you want the TV mounted. Drive one nail 1/2-inch to the left of each stud, and a second nail 1/2-inch into the right of it. Repeat this process for every stud.
  • Step 5

Drill a hole into the center of the stud with the 3/16-inch bit. Using this hole, attach the mount to the wall with the lag bolts.
  • Step 6

Repeat this for the other studs that will be behind your television. Make sure the mount is level.
  • Step 7

Use the mounting bolts to hang the TV to the mount.
