Omega-3 has numerous health benefits. Omega-3 is known to help people at high risk for heart disease. Omega-3 can be obtained in the diet by eating fish that is low in calories. Fatty fish that contain Omega-3 include salmon, albacore tuna, mackerel, lake trout, herring and sardines.

Omega-3 fish oils help memory and reasoning abilities. The fatty acids assist normal brain function. The combination of diet, exercise and sleep can alter our mental functions.

The American Heart Association recommends fish oil for improving heart health. The AHA suggests eating fatty fish at minimum two times per week for heart benefits.
