How to Donate a Car to a Charity in Florida

Step 1

Look at the list of available Florida charities on the Cars4Charities website (see References). Click the links if you would like to get more information directly from the charities.
Step 2

Fill out the online form to donate a car in Florida (see References). You may also call 866-448-3487. Wait for the towing company to call you on the phone. You can then arrange a time and place for the towing company to pick up your car. Have your car and car keys ready at the pickup point. The towing company will tow your vehicle at that time.
Step 3

Contact the charity you chose to get instructions for submitting your title. You need to mail in your car title to the charity. Keep in contact with the charity to obtain a tax form for a charitable deduction.

Step 1

View the list of charities using DonationLine (see References). You can look at a nationwide alphabetical list or click on the "Florida" link to see Florida charities.
Step 2

Use the DonationLine online form to select your charity in the first step (see Resources). Fill out the rest of the form to set up your car donation. You may also set up your donation by calling 877-227-7487.
Step 3

Arrange for a pickup time. The towing company assigned by DonationLine will call you within two business days to arrange a towing appointment. Have your car, car keys and car title ready for the towing company. You will receive a form for tax deduction from the charity.

Choose a Florida charity that uses DonateACar to process car donations (see Resources). You can also see a nationwide list by clicking on the "All Charities" link.
Step 2

Fill out the online form to apply for your Florida car donation (see Resources). Choose your charity in the "Select a Charity" menu. You can also call 800-237-5714 to ask questions or arrange a donation. Wait for the designated towing company to contact you within two days. Set up a time and place to tow your car.
Step 3

Meet the towing company at the assigned place. Present your car keys and title with your car. Keep in contact with DonateACar to get a tax-deduction form.
