How to Display a Counter

Overview
A website counter is a little piece of HTML code you can add to your website that will allow you to see how many people have visited. The only downside to this is that it does not distinguish between a new visitor and a visitor who comes back to visit again and again. Still, having a website counter is nice in that it does give you an idea of how often your website is being visited. There are also counters that you can set up to display a certain number of hits to your website all the time. If you don't want others to see how often your website is visited, this can be nice feature to have with your counter. You can also have an invisible counter if you prefer to not have a counter on your website, but would like to know the number of hits to your website.

Step 1
Go to statcounter.com/ and sign up for an account.
-
Step 2
Login to your account and click on "My Projects" in the top left-hand corner if you are not taken there automatically when you login.
-
Step 3
Click on "Add New Project," and this will take you to a form to fill out.
-
Step 4
Fill in the form, and then click "Next." Look at the menu on the far left and click on "Configure Counter" under the "Configure" menu. Go to the bottom of the page and you'll see the "Counter Digit Font" section, where you can choose whichever font you want.
-
Step 5
Go back to the Configure menu on the left and click on "Install Code." This will take you to a page where you can select a particular look for your counter.
-
Step 6
Click on "Next" on the next page, providing the Blog/Webpage Editor listed in the first box is correct. If not, then first choose the correct one from the drop-down menu on the box.
-
Step 7
Go to your website host and login to your account.
-
Step 8
Click on your file manager and then click on the file to which you want to add the code for your counter.
-
Step 9
Copy and paste the counter code where you want it on the file you just opened. Save the file.
-
Step 10
Go to your website and view the counter. Assuming it is displaying properly, you're done. If it is not displaying properly or not displaying at all, repeat Steps 1 through 9 until it does display properly.
