Different Hairstyles for Short Hair
There's no quicker way to completely change your look than by getting a short haircut. Short hair instantly accentuates your face, emphasizes your eyes and presents you with a whole slew of new styling options. Sleek or curly? Spiked or smooth? The best thing about updating your look with short hair is that---unlike a botched plastic surgery or an expensive new wardrobe---it always grows back.
-
The Cleopatra Bob
The ever-classic bob, which was so rebellious in the 1920s, can bring out a sirenlike quality in your face if you keep it sleek, straight and dark. To channel your inner Cleopatra, keep your hair chin-length, with blunt, eyebrow-skimming bangs. You don't want a lot of layers in this cut, as the uniformity is what makes it so striking. Use a smoothing serum or a gloss to give your hair megawatt shine, and feel free to vamp up the eye makeup, as this cut definitely accentuates your eyes.
-
The Angular Bob
Side parts and side-swept bangs are flattering on almost every face shape, so take advantage of that when getting an angular bob. This look isn't as dramatic as the Cleopatra bob; it softens the face and has a little swing to it. Get your bangs cut long and to one side, and part your hair over one eye. Use a frequent deep conditioner to keep this look soft and pretty. If you want to channel a bit of the 1980s, you can get one side cut a little shorter than the other.
-
The Texturized Cut
Gals with curly or wavy hair can go short, too, as long as they're willing to embrace their texture. Make sure your hairstylist knows what she's doing when she chops off your curly hair; a good haircut for curly hair follows the natural bend of the curl. Ask the stylist to texturize your ends, then use a little styling paste on them to give your style that piece-y look. Amp up your texture with your favorite styling product, then dry with a diffuser. Keep your hands off your hair as much as possible, as touching it will encourage frizz.
-
The Pixie
This hairstyle isn't for the self-conscious. An adorable pixie cut draws attention to your complexion, bone structure, neck and eyes. If you're confident you can rock it, ask your stylist to leave a little length on top so you have something to work with. You can wear the pixie messy and spiked with a little gel, or sleek and elegant. This cut is extremely low maintenance; just wash, tousle, and go. However, keep in mind that this cut will need more frequent trims to maintain its delicate shape.

The Gamine
The gamine, also known as the crop, isn't just for Marines; many gorgeous women, including Audrey Hepburn and Natalie Portman, have cut their hair supershort. Gamine haircuts are a great choice for women with severely damaged hair who want a fresh start. They look especially great on women with strong, beautiful features. This is quite possibly the easiest hairstyle in the world---all you need worry about is keeping it clean. Try glamming it up with sparkly pins, thin headbands or eye-catching makeup.
