How to Delete the Recent Search List in Dogpile

Overview

Dogpile is one of numerous Internet search engines like Google, Yahoo! and Bing; it's also available as a toolbar that can be used in the Internet Explorer web browser. According to AVirtualExit.com, the Dogpile is a "metacrawler that uses an intelligent algorithm in order to aggregate search results from the most popular web searches." Although this tool can be helpful when searching the web, you may not want to allow other people using your computer to see your search history in a drop-down menu when they begin to start their own search. There is a way to delete your recent search list in Dogpile.

Step 1

Click on your Internet Explorer icon to open the browser on your desktop.
Step 2

Find the Dogpile icon, which should be located all the way to the left of the Dogpile toolbar, and click on that.
Step 3

Select the "clear history" option in the small pop-up menu.

Click on the "preferences" link underneath the search box.

Scroll down the preferences page until you see the options for "recent searches."

Click on the "Recent Searches Off" bubble.

Click on "Save Settings" at the bottom of the preferences page.

In the toolbar, you also have the option of turning off your Dogpile search history permanently. To do this you need to click on the same Dogpile icon, located on the left side of the toolbar, and choose "toolbar settings." Navigate to the "search settings" section of the toolbar tab. Put a check in the box that says "Turn off search history."

After deleting or turning off your search history on the Dogpile toolbar, be sure to make sure the task has been completed successfully by trying a new search in the toolbar. If a drop-down menu of recent history still pops up during your search, you have not completed the process correctly.
