How to Decorate TV Wall Mounts

As televisions become sleeker and more compact, television wall mounts become much less a prominent part of the room. However, they are still useful for mounting larger televisions in the corners of bedrooms for reclined watching or for setting up a multitelevision sports viewing unit in a game room. In order to keep the television wall mount from being too intrusive into your decorating theme, take some small, simple steps to keep the mount a harmonious part of your interior design.

Step 1

Stain wooden TV wall mounts. This makes them look far more finished than if you leave the wood "raw." Wood stain alone will make your wall mount an active contributor to your room decor.
Step 2

Decorate your wall mount in the theme of the room. This works whether your wall mount is plastic, metal or wood. If you have a sports theme, then mount some team spirit pennants or flags onto the wall mount so that they hang down and add team spirit to your room. You can attach them with the glue gun. If you have a floral theme, then wrap some silk flower vines around the mount so that it looks a little more natural and goes with the rest of your decor.
Step 3

Hang a plant from the wall mount. If your TV wall mount is on a patio or in a screen porch or mudroom, then a hanging plant may be the perfect accent. If the wall mount is wooden, then screw a cup hook into the bottom and hang the plant from the hook. If it is metal or plastic, you probably can just loop the hook on the plant through or over the mount itself. This will make your wall mount a little more decorative without obscuring the television image.
