How to Create My Own Ringtone

Using a special photograph or unique ringtone is a wonderful way to add a personal touch to your cell phone. While most phones come with a collection of pre-recorded ringtones, often the manufacturer's selections are quite limited. Creating your own ringtone is not as complicated as it might seem. There are two easy ways to accomplish this task. One method requires the use of special software, while the other uses the features already found on your phone.

How to Create My Own Ringtone

Step 1

Open the cell phone media folder and select the voice recorder.
Step 2

Choose a music file from your computer that you would like to use as a ringtone. Hold the phone close to the computer speaker and push "Play" on the computer and "Record" on the cell phone. Record the desired amount of music.
Step 3

Go to the recording list. This is often located in the "My Stuff" area of your cell phone. Select the recoding you just made and choose "Set as Ringtone." You can also use ringtone software such as Audiko to create your tone.
Step 4

Upload your favorite song from the computer into the software program. When this is completed a ringtone maker icon will appear.
Step 5

Select the portion of the song you would like to use by dragging the blue clip marker to the desired location in the song.
Step 6

Click, "Create Ringtone" when you are satisfied with the song clip you have chosen.
Step 7

Name the ringtone and save it as an Mp3 file.
Step 8

Connect the cell phone to the computer using a USB connector. Download the ringtone to your phone
