How to Create a Web Page in FrontPage

by Anthony Smith
  • Overview

Microsoft's FrontPage web-design and HTML-editing software is geared toward the novice web page designer. Its WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) format and easy-to-use interface have users working with a point-and-click format rather than the nuts and bolts of HTML code. The steps below will help you create a web page using FrontPage.

  • Step 1

Open the FrontPage software and create a new file by clicking on "File" and then "New." Then choose "Blank Page" from the New navigation pane.
  • Step 2

Click on "Format" and then "Themes." You may then select from a number of prebuilt background color schemes for your web page by double clicking on one. The theme will then load.
  • Step 3

Add text to your web page by clicking on the "Design" tab located at the lower left of the FrontPage main screen, and then typing text into the Design window, much as you would in a word processing program such as Microsoft Word. The tool bar located above the window also works similarly to Word, with buttons for font choices and modifications, text justification and color.
  • Step 4

Add pictures to your web page by clicking on "Insert," "Picture," and then selecting the picture file from your computer's directories.
  • Step 5

View the code or the web page preview by clicking on the tabs labeled as such in the lower left of the screen.
  • Step 6

Publish your site to the Internet by clicking on "File" and then "Publish Site."
