How to Create Coffee Table Models Online

Overview
If you're planning to build your own coffee table, you can easily create a coffee table model online with the help of free 3D modeling programs like Google SketchUp. The program allows you to create coffee table models of all shapes and sizes. You can even customize your models with different colors and other details. Once you are finished with your models, the program allows you to print or save your work to access later.

Step 1
Visit the Google SketchUp website (see Resources below) and download the program. This software allows you to make 3D models of coffee tables and other types of furniture as well as buildings and even cityscapes.
-
Step 2
The download works with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS X operating systems. Expect the download to take about two minutes. Once the download is complete, open the program to begin designing.
-
Step 3
Decide on the dimensions of your coffee table model. You will need to decide on dimensions for the table top, the legs and the distance between the legs and the top. Write these dimensions down in a sketchbook for easy reference.
-
Step 4
Make the top of your coffee table. Select the rectangle tool and create a square or a rectangle. Make the rectangle larger or smaller by dragging the rectangle tool. Use the push/pull tool to adjust the depth of the rectangular table top.
-
Step 5
Create the legs. Select the rectangle tool. Right-click and select the option "Make Component." Use the rectangle to make four legs. Use the push/pull tool to lengthen or shorten the legs.
-
Step 6
Select "Paint Bucket" to customize the color of your coffee table.
