Overview
Many factors contribute to the image and success of your business. A memorable business card can be your most powerful marketing tool in effectively communicating what your company is all about. Instead of spending large amounts of money hiring expensive graphic designers and printers, you can create business cards on your own computer with Photoshop. Creating your own business cards is an affordable solution that also allows you to maintain control over your company's primary marketing material. Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can create your own.
-
-
Step 1
Open Photoshop. On the main top navigation menu, go to "File." Select "New."
-
Step 2
In the new document settings dialog box, set the width to 3.5 inches, the height should be 2 inches, and the resolution should be 300 pixels. The color mode should be RGB 16-bit, and select "White" for the background contents. Once you adjust all of the settings, click "OK."
-
Step 3
Incorporate your logo or any other image onto the blank white canvas. Open up your logo in Photoshop. Go to "Image" and then "Image Size" to check what resolution your logo image has. Make sure that it has a 300 dpi resolution (the same as the card background).
-
Step 4
Once you have adjusted your image to the necessary resolution, press "Ctrl/Cmd-A" to select the entire image and then press "Ctrl/Cmd-C" to copy. Select your blank white canvas and press "Ctrl/Cmd-V" to paste your image into your canvas. Use the "Free Transform" tool to adjust the size of the image. Use the move tool to drag the image to where you want to place it.
-
Step 5
Go to "Layer" and click "New Layer." Click the text tool and add the text you want for your business card on this new layer. Experiment and adjust the font, size and color of your text.
-
Step 6
To print your business card, create a new document of 7.5 inches (width) and 10 inches (height) and resolution of 300 dpi. Go to your business card and select "Edit" in the navigational menu. Choose "Copy Merged" and then paste your business card image into your new document several times.
-
Step 7
Print the document on to card stock and cut out your new business cards.

- Print your business cards out on regular paper first to check that the layout and details are all correct.
Use images and text colors that contrast well with the white background. High contrast cards are clearer and easier to read.
