How to Configure Virtual PC

    Virtual PC allows you to run multiple operating systems on you computer. You can even run the same operating system multiple times on the same computer using few resources. It's an advantageous way for administrators to set up multiple instances of an operating system. To external applications, it looks like several computers, but it is actually one PC. Configuring the application takes only a few steps.
 
  • Step 1

    Click the Windows "Start" button and select "All Programs." From the selection, choose "Microsoft Virtual PC."
  • Step 2

    Click the "File" menu and select "New." This opens a wizard window to set up a new configuration.
  • Step 3

    Select the "Create New Virtual Machine" radio box.
  • Step 4

    Enter the name of the new Virtual PC in the textbox. Click the "Next" button.
  • Step 5

    Choose the operating system in the list box and click "Next."
  • Step 6

    Select "Using the recommended RAM." This is the best option for people who aren't familiar with RAM settings.
  • Step 7

    Enter a virtual hard drive name. This is an important option for people who have multiple Virtual PC applications running.
  • Step 8

    Enter a location for the virtual hard drive. This is a saved file that uses settings in a VHD file format.
  • Step 9

    Click "Next." A summary screen is displayed. Click "Finish" to complete the configuration.
