How to Clean & Wax Old Kitchen Cabinets

Overview
Kitchens that shine are a delight to behold. Cleaning a kitchen on a daily basis helps keep food bacteria from spreading to other places in the house. Some kitchen jobs, such as mopping the floors, are necessary to perform once a week. Spring and fall cleaning kitchen tasks include removing everything from the cabinets and cleaning the shelves. Another job to keep your kitchen looking its best is attending to the doors and frames of cabinets. Old kitchen cabinets can look new again if you perform certain actions.

Step 1
Buy trisodium phosphate (TSP) and a white nylon scrubber pad at your local hardware or home improvement store. Purchase a paste car wax from an auto supply store.
-
Step 2
Measure 1/2 cup TSP, and put it into an empty bucket. Add one gallon hot water to the bucket. Use a long cooking spoon to stir the mixture.
-
Step 3
Put on your rubber gloves. Dip the white nylon scrubber pad into the TSP solution, and wring it out. Clean the doors and frames of your kitchen cabinets. Rinse the pad well after cleaning your old kitchen cabinets.
-
Step 4
Apply the paste wax to your old kitchen cabinets with the scrubber pad. Wipe off any extra wax with a clean cloth.
-
Step 5
Wait a few minutes, and buff your cabinets with a clean, soft lint-free cloth.
