How to Change the Battery on a Palm 3C

Overview
A Palm 3C, also referred to as a Palm IIIC, is a small personal digital assistant that can fit in your pocket. Because of its size, it can be a little tricky to figure out how to change the battery. You must handle it carefully so that you don't drop it and crack or scratch the plastic case. Luckily, it is a very quick operation.
-
-
Step 1
Turn your Palm 3C over so you are looking at the side with the barcode sticker. Look for four screws; there should be one at each corner of the case. Use your small Phillips head screwdriver to take them out carefully. Gently put them in a shallow dish so you can keep track of them.
-
Step 2
Pry the two pieces of the case apart using your fingers only. Do not use a knife or the screwdriver. It's easiest if you start at a corner and move out from there. It should not be hard to pull apart.
-
Step 3
Look for the power cable that connects the battery to the motherboard. It is red and black and very thin. You will see that it is connected to the board--which is green with a yellow warning sticker on it--by a white connector. Gently pull the end of the cord out of this connector. Just like with a traditional cord, pull with the end, not with the body of the cord.
-
Step 4
Pry the old battery out of your PDA. Put the new one in in the exact some position as the old one so that its power cable is in the right place.
-
Step 5
Gently push the cable into the connector you used in Step 3. Replace the case and the screws. Place your Palm 3C in its charger and plug it in. It will take three hours or more to charge your new battery.

- Never replace the battery while your hands are wet. You could get shocked.
Change the battery in an area that is relatively dust-free. You do not want to get dust on the motherboard.
Don't touch the motherboard. You shouldn't need to in order to change the battery.
