How to Help Your Bridesmaids Select Their Gowns

by Contributing Writer
2Some brides insist on selecting their bridesmaids gowns themselves, and some let their bridesmaids pick them out. Which ever way you choose to do it, you're not going to make everyone happy. What looks good on one girl may not look good on another. There is a way to have some control over the style and color of the girls gowns and at the same time allow the bridesmaids to have a say in the selection. Just follow the steps below and see how easy it can be.Bridal magazinesPhoto by Jason Burrows.
Selecting The Bridesmaids DressesLook through bridal magazines and select about six bridesmaids gowns that you like. Cut out the photos of the dresses. For our example we're going to have six bridesmaids.Show the dress photos to each of your bridesmaids and ask each one to list the gowns in order of how much they like the gowns. Ask each girl if there is any dress that they would refuse to wear for whatever reason. After all the girls have given you their lists, see if any of them marked a gown as a definite no. Eliminate those gowns.Use the rest of their lists to see which gown or gowns ranked highest on the lists. Chances are good that you will find the same gown listed in the top three on all the lists.Take the photo of the gown to a bridal shop to see if they carry or can order that style. If possible bring a swatch of the color you want them in. Make arrangements for the fittings and you're all set!
