How to Block a Particular Website

by Brian Hudson
  • Overview

There are many reasons that a computer user might want to block a website, such as to prevent children from visiting adult content. The most popular Internet browser, Internet Explorer, allows users to block individual websites through its Privacy functions. Learn to block a website in a few quick steps.

  • Step 1

In Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" and select "Internet Options."
  • Step 2

Click "Privacy" in the Internet Options dialog box, then click "Sites" in the Privacy panel.
  • Step 3

You can now add websites--one at a time--to Internet Explorer's block list. Be sure to type the web address accurately, or the block will not work.
  • Step 4

When you are finished, click "OK" to leave the Sites panel; then click "OK" again to return to Internet Explorer.
