Birthday Party Decorations Horse Theme

by Arielle Bhumitra
  • Overview

Birthday parties featuring horse themes are popular for horse-loving children and adults alike. Below are some decorating ideas to make your horse-themed birthday party as much of an equine affair as it can possibly be.
  • Table Decorating Ideas

Instead of chairs or benches, get straw hay bales from your local feed store and use them for the guests to sit on. Hay bales scattered through the party will create a country atmosphere consistent with the equine theme. At the center of each table, place a stuffed horse with a ribbon tied around its neck. Use different colored horses for variety. This simple centerpiece is charming and will no doubt wow your guests. For added fun, play a game of hot potato using the stuffed horse as the ultimate prize.

  • Wall Decorations

Visit tack stores in person or online to purchase strings of horse-shaped party lights and horse-shaped streamers. If you know of a farrier, ask him for discarded horseshoes that you can decorate with glitter and paint and hang in various places around your party. If it is a western horse-themed party, you can also pick up miniature cowboy hats at a local craft store and string them together to hang.
  • Cake Decorations

Ask your local bakery to make a cake featuring a picture of a horse or your favorite rider and horse in action. Alternatively, the cake could also show a 3-D equestrian scene, depicting toy horse and riders jumping miniature fences. If your party has more of a western horse theme, then decorate the cake with images of western spurs and cowboy hats. Also, consider making your cake a carrot cake, as carrots are loved by horses everywhere.
