Overview
The city of Wagoner is a small town of about 7,000 people in Wagoner County, Oklahoma. It is run by a mayor and a city superintendent, who is in charge of all emergency services including fire emergencies. Both the City of Wagoner and the County of Wagoner have volunteer fire departments. Wagoner County has 14 fire departments: Broken Arrow, Coweta, Flat Rock, Oak Grove, Okay, Porter, Redbird, Rolling Hills, Stone Bluff, Taylor Ferry, Tullahassee, Toppers, Whitehorn Cove and, of course, Wagoner.

Step 1
Realize you must be at least 18 years old to work as a firefighter. Some volunteer fire departments in Wagoner County require that volunteers be between 21 and 45.
-
Step 2
Be physically fit. Being a fire fighter involves a lot of physical activity and lifting heavy objects and people.
-
Step 3
Get CPR training. Even though most volunteer fire fighter stations will provide training, it helps to be CPR trained, as it is one of the basics firefighters should have.
-
Step 4
Allocate free time and be available for emergencies. Volunteer firefighters give of themselves to help their neighbors and communities, and you will need to allocate time for training as well as be available to be on call for emergencies.
-
Step 5
Call the Wagoner city superintendent's office for more specific information and requirements for the city of Wagoner. See a link in Resources below for how to contact his office.
