How to Become An Eco Fashion Designer
-
Step 1
Learn knowledge of fashion, fashion trends and have some drawing ability before embarking on the career path of fashion designer. It is even more important for you to have a grasp of this knowledge when becoming an eco-fashion designer.
An eco-fashion designer is a fashion designer who uses economically-friendly and environmentally-friendly materials when making the clothing or fashions they present to the world.
-
Step 2
Start sketching out your fashion designs. This can include basic clothing or extravagant clothing. You should have a well presented portfolio of sketches to show prospective clients and employers. Some clothing often seen on runways are skirts, jackets, scarfs, hats, shirts and dresses. Each designer will have a new way of presenting these fashions with different colors, cuts, shapes and designs.
-
Step 3
Get to work after you have completed your sketched wardrobe. You will need to find materials that are environmentally and economically friendly. These fabrics can range from soft organic cotton to sturdier bamboo. Knowing how each material moves, flows and works will let you make the most of the fabric for your fashion designs. Add notations to your sketches to give you an idea of what materials will work best for each piece of clothing.
-
Step 4
Make your eco-fashions come alive with the eco-friendly materials. Using your model make the clothing that you have decided on. This may be simple or it can be more difficult depending on the intricacies of your materials. Part of the fun of being a fashion designer is making your clothing line come alive.
-
Step 5
Present your eco-fashion portfolio to prospective clients and employers. It takes a lot of hard work to be a famous fashion designer but by being an eco-fashion designer you will show the world that you care where your materials are coming from.
